Deb, have I tooooold you lately — that I love you? This is my third pair of Barnhill socks, and I am so in love with these babies. The blue-to-white variegated yarn was a birthday gift from my mother-in-law, and it’s the most luxurious sock yarn I’ve had the pleasure of knitting.

The secret to these socks is the way the leg ribbing emerges from the foot at the gusset, with much of the increasing done within the ribbing as it widens. Add a really substantial ribbed heel, and this is a solid-feeling sock despite the delicate yarn.

I finished them in San Diego at the American Academy of Religion meeting, and then wore them for the first time today. Pure love.

Next up — what else but another Deb Barnhill pattern!

Those socks are beautiful – and a lovely, lovely photo.

Love the socks – and the view! When you first posted about San Diego, I kept thinking that everything looked so familiar. Then I realized that I stayed at the same hotel a couple of years ago. By the way, how do you have time to knit?

  3. Lovely socks. Your sock knitting dedication amazes me. One of these days…
